Printing Zebra labels and documents from Business Central with Plur-e Printer

How the Plur-e Printer desktop app links a local Windows printer to Plur-e Mobile with a Printer Key, what prints from the phone, and how to troubleshoot silent print jobs.

Quick answer

Plur-e Printer is a Windows desktop application that receives print jobs from Plur-e Mobile and sends them to a local printer. You register the printer in the Admin Center with its exact Windows name, copy the Printer Key into the desktop app and activate the service. Receipts, labels and other Plur-e reports then print from the phone with no print server to maintain.

Cloud ERPs and label printers do not naturally get along: the printer is on the warehouse LAN and the ERP is somewhere else. Here is the small piece Plur-e adds so a phone can print on a Zebra next to the packing bench.

The pieces

PieceRole
Admin Center → PrintersThe printer's name, description, format and Printer Key
Plur-e Printer (Windows)Runs on a PC that can reach the printer; holds the key; prints
Plur-e MobileSends the job (for example a paid invoice receipt)

Setting it up

Register the printer In the Admin Center create the printer with the exact

name Windows shows under Devices, a description and the Format Printer type. Save and activate.

What prints from the phone

Paid invoice receipts from Posted Sales Invoice Payment are documented today; label and document formats per module are being confirmed for the current version. Everything printed is kept under Admin Center → Documents for viewing and reprinting.

When nothing prints

Nine times out of ten it is one of these:

  1. The Admin Center name differs from the Windows printer name.
  2. The Printer Key was pasted but the service was not activated.
  3. Plur-e Printer is closed or the PC went to sleep.
  4. A Bluetooth printer used directly from Android lacks the app's Bluetooth permission.
